Plan your stay.
The useful layer: how to arrive, when to come, what to expect and how long to stay.
By road or ferry.
Pag is connected to the mainland by Pag Bridge in the south. From the northern Adriatic, the Prizna–Žigljen ferry offers another route onto the island. From Novalja, Stara Novalja is a short onward drive north.
Keep a car useful, not central.
A car opens the wider island — Lun, Novalja Field and eastern Pag — but the bay itself rewards slower movement once you arrive.
Choose your season.
July and August bring the full summer rhythm. Late spring and early autumn are better for travellers prioritising space, outdoor activity, diving and gastronomy.
Three nights or more.
One night shows the bay. Three nights starts to connect the destination. Five gives Pag room to surprise you.
Where is Stara Novalja?
Stara Novalja is north of Novalja on the island of Pag, Croatia, set along a deep bay.
How do I reach Stara Novalja by car?
Pag is road-connected to the mainland in the south via Pag Bridge. From the north, travellers can also use the Prizna–Žigljen ferry and continue by road. Always check current ferry and road information before travel.
Which beach is best for families?
Planjka (Trinćel) is the clearest family choice; Visit Novalja describes it as fine-sand, warm, shallow and specifically recommends it for families with children.
Is Stara Novalja only a summer destination?
No. Diving, outdoor activities, gastronomy and shoulder-season events give spring and autumn a strong role, although individual businesses may operate seasonally.
How long should I stay?
Three nights is a strong minimum if you want to combine the bay, diving or water time, food and a wider Pag excursion without rushing.
